I get black tongue when taking antibiotics. It is from the reflux and antibiotic coming back up. At least that is how it is with me. It goes away until I take antibiotics again.

WHAT CAUSES BLACK TONGUE

black hairy tongue is commonly caused by broad spectrum antibiotics such as clarithromycin or cotrimoxazole.  The antibiotics cause overgrowth of certain micro-organisms on the tongue resulting in thickening of the pili of the tongue which gives it a black appearance.  Treatment is to increase oral hygiene, brush more regularly or use a hydrogen peroxide & water solution to brush tongue.
