bleeding, diarrhea, abdominal pain..

Hi. I'm a 21 yr old female with stomach problems. First, I have been bleeding when I go #2 for the past 6 months. It happens every 2-3 weeks or so. Second, since September 2010 I've been having bad diarrhea on and off. The cramping is horrible. I'll have it for about 1 or 2 weeks then for the next week I'll feel fine then it will start up again. The stools are very watery and sometimes thin. Third, I've had black stools about 3 times since the diarrhea has started. Finally, I have also been having abdominal pain. The pain is sometimes in my lower right abdomen and sometimes in the left. More recently, I've had pain under my ribcage. ALSO, I get lower back pain and bad hip pain when I get lower abdominal pain. Over the summer I had my gallbladder removed because I had pancreatitis. I also have high blood pressure and they don't know why. I don't know if the last two points are related. I just want some opinions because it's really bad. The diarrhea is affecting my day-to-day life and I've been missing work a lot because of it. I've told the doctors about this and I'm in the process of going to see a gi. Thanks for your help.

Hey. Update.
They moved my endoscopy and colonoscopy up, and I had them both yesterday. They found nothing wrong! The doctor took biopsies and I have to go back in a month to get results. I'm relieved/annoyed.

I'm sorry, but you just need to wait it out.  I know what it is like to have liquid stool, I've had it for a couple of years now (medication induced, that's the only way it comes out).  It's hard but you just need to be patient.  Good luck.

Ugh. I can't take it anymore. Now sometimes when I go to the bathroom it's like pure liquid coming out.

Gah..I don't know how, to be honest. The surgeon who is doing it is all booked up until then.

I would recommend seeing if you can move the colonoscopy earlier.

Hi, thanks for your input. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Valentines Day. Hah... The only tests I've had were blood tests (which were fine) and I had a stool sample test which showed there were no parasites or anything like that.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Sorry, but we cannot help to give advise on this question until you have testing done.  You need to see a gi doctor ASAP because this could be something serious.  You probably need to have, among other tests, a colonoscopy.  Red blood indicates bleeding lower down in your digestive track and black stools can indicate bleeding in your upper digestive track.
