bloated needing to burp

i am taking loansoprazole for Heartburn the heartburn is gone now but everyday I have this heavy bloated feeling and a need to burp. At times it is very painfull. Could this have anything to do with the medication ????

It can definitelly be due to the medication: if there's not enough acid in the stomach to actually breakdown the food it could linger in your stomach for far too long, causing the bloated feeling.

Call you doc and see about halving your dosage, either by going to a lower mg (from 30mg to 15mg, for example) or by going to 1 pill every 2 days. (I presume you're on 30mg lanzoprazole daily, taken 1 pill per day.)

Have you had an EGD (upper endoscopy) done? Was there any damage to the esophagus? Sometimes too little acid can be the cause of heartburn, rather than too much acid. (This is a condition known as NERD: non-errosive reflux disease.) If this is the case, then lanzoprazole may not be the right course of action. Of course, only you with your doc can determine that.

Call and ask about modifying your prescription dosage.

Good luck.
