what might possibly be the cause of blood along with the stool. it did not appear that there was blood in the stool, it was normal colored. There was only blood in the water, red in color.

Probably hemorhoids or a fissure, but you still should seek advise from a doctor.

ihave been noticing small amounts of blood on the toilet paper after passing a stool. What could cause this?

i'm better on hemmerhoids or a fissure, or just a small tiny tear that happened to bleed just this once.  Red blood means that its coming from near the end of the colon, the anus.  This is usually hemmorhoids or a small tear.  If you need reassurance, go see your doc, but its more then likely nothing.
