As per the above response, you should seek medical advice. For possible causes google rectal bleeding and click onto one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative. Then you will be better informed when you discuss with your doctor. If the doctor's diagnosis is vague ("...well it looks as if it might be one of the minor causes such as anal fissure haemorrrohids etc.....") you may wish to request a colonoscopy.
As you will see from the Medicinenet site, there are more sinister (but rarer) causes of rectal bleeding. From your nickname I am (perhaps wrongly) assuming that you were born in 1963. If so then you are at an age (47??) when there is a greater chance of these diseases having taken hold - comparing to the likelyhood at younger ages.
I don't mean to scare you but I feel that you should ensure that you have examinations and tests that provide (hopefully) complete reassurance - or nevertheless (but hopefully not) a diagnosis of a disease about which, in the future, you can say "my promptness and vigilance caught it in time".
One of my Wife's uncles - at the age of ~50-55 - noticed rectal bleeding but thought it was harmless and did nothing. Eventually when he visited a specialist, the doctor said "if only you would have come to see us sooner..." My Wife's uncle died eventually of colon cancer.
Don't let yourself be vulnerable (even if the possibility is very small) to a similar outcome.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community! It is probably just something like hemorrhoids. I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor to get this checked out.
