Hi - I suggest that you type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo and you will find a site that describes the possible causes of rectal bleeding.  In summary they can be minor (haemorrhoids, anal fissure) through to the more sinister causes such as colon cancer (generally only develops at age 40+).

In any case rectal bleeding is never normal and should always be medically investigated and I suggest, that unless your doctor is certain that the causes are minor, then ask for a colonoscopy as the most comprehensive test.
