blood in stool, diarrhea, etc

I am 19 years old, and for several weeks now I have been finding bright red blood in the toilet and on toilet paper. More recently I have also been having constipation and diarrhea. While I would like to go see a doctor about this immediately it hasn't been a possibility and may not be for a while still. So while I wait, what can I do to take care of this? I have been eating a lot of fiber as well as some probiotic yogurt, and I'm trying to cut back on things like dairy and caffeine. I was going to take imodium (immodium) for the diarrhea but it says not to take it if you have blood in your stool... what else might help?
