blood inthe stool

I been taking PROTONIX 40mgs. for the last couple of months, my diet excludes alcohol and acids of course, I eat cereal fruits and vegetables drink lots of water, weight 210 lbs. can't lose weight, I don't exercise a lot, and last week a noticed blood on the bathroom tissue first I though tha it was due to hemorroides but the I put some gloves on and check the stool itself (very gross) and I saw blood and an small blood clog, can this medication be the cause? or it's a sympthom or what?

I don't know whether the medicine can cause rectal bleeding but I am sure that you should not assume that the medicine is the cause of the bleeding.
Unless the doctor can reassure you (100%) that the cause of the bleeding is minor (haemorrhoids, anal fissure etc) then I suggest that you ask for a colonoscopy which provides (hopefully) the maximum reassurance.
