blood..

blood..

Okay... so for the last year I have been thinking that I have IBS... I had on and off diarreah (diarrhea) and that has gone now... i get stomach pain now and then... its all pretty mild... but now and then for the past couple of months I have noticed blood on my stool and with some mucus on my stool I should probably point out I have had mucus in my stool since I noticed the effects of what I believe is IBS! Im just really worried about the blood.... its bright red in colour and there isnt tooo much of it, it just sits on one side of the stool. Im not sure whether its the actual stool or the mucus that is attached to it that is red... did some research... cancer cancer cancer cancer is all that im faced with :s Anyone give me any light on the situation?

Many Thanks in Advance!

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Blood in your stool is not a symptom of IBS.  I am almost 100% sure that you do not have cancer mainly becuase of your age.  However it would be a good idea to see a gastroenterologist and undergo some testing to determine what is going on.
