bloody stool

by pharmacist, Jun 05, 2002 12:00AM
I'm 40 years old, female, no family history of colon problems.A few months ago ý saw blood in my stool. It was on the surface of it. I went to see a GI who told me it is 99% an anal fissure because of my chronic constipation. The bleeding is on and off with 2 or 3 weeks periods. Is this normal for an anal fissure?

So I probably noticed blood in my stool on and off for about a year. Like I said it comes and goes, I don't know what triggers it and why it happens. It doesn't hurt it just alarms me after I have gone to the bathroom and notice a light trail of blood in my stool.
