I don't think you ought to rely on this. For instance, taking the most pessimistic option, if your rectal bleeding is caused by colon cancer, then obviously you require prompt and specialised medical treatment/surgery.
Same story for other serious causes like diverticular bleeding, Chrons etc etc.
Less seriously, if the cause of the bleeding is haemorrohids or an anal fissure then this will, in any case, require a doctor's diagnosis following which - maybe - an over-the-counter or, more probably, a prescribed medicine will be advised.
The fact that you don't know the exact cause of you rectal bleeding surely makes it obligatory to seek medical advice?? Yes...??
Again, assuming the worst case, what will you think if you decide to take an over-the-counter medicine/ointment etc and then several years later you find that you have colon cancer - and the doctor says "oh dear, if only you had come to see us sooner...".
Your posting is rather brief and not that informative - but if you had intended to ask what to do about a discharge of blood from your rear passage - then do seek prompt medical advice since rectal bleeding is never normal.
You can type rectal bleeding into Google/Yahoo etc and click on one of the many postings to learn more about rectal bleeding.
Good luck with whatever your complaint is.
