mid-May due to a severe infection caused by diverticulitis. While recovering from surgery in a rehabilitation facility, he was diagnosed with c-dif. He was prescribed Flagyl and Vancomycin. However, he had an allergic reaction
to the Vanco on his first day of treatment and it was immediately dc'd.
He cont'd on Flagyl for 14 days. However, when they received the results of the stool culture, he was told today he still has c-dif. They are starting him on another round of Flagyl for 14 days. I have read that repeated rounds of Flagyl are not typically effective without Vancomycin. I am really concerned as this is the second major surgery my father has been through in the past 6 months. He is not in good health.
