for the past 3 months. I have taken 2 rounds of Flagl (7 days each) and I just finished 2 weeks of vancocin. I have tried Florastor but I experienced a terrible migraine headache that lasted all day.
I saw a gastroenterologist and he did a colonoscopy about 3 weeks ago. He told me that I still had C difficile
but it was mild to moderate. He was the one that put me on vancocin for 2 weeks. However, now that I am off the antibotics I am experiencing soft stool and mucus in the stool.
Do you have any other recommendations for me to try and get rid of this bacterial infection? Any other probiotics that I could try. I reside in Canada.
If the vanco cleared it, it's still going to take awhile to get things back to normal. Make sure they recheck at the end of a proper period of time. You could also try something like Culturelle which is a good probiotic. The top of the heap of probiotics is VSL#3 - used in a number of clinical trials with very good results for conditions such as ulcerative colitis
In addition, go to medscape.com and sign in - good site and no 'spam.' Then query the search function for C. diff articles (broad-range search). You should be able to pull up some recent articles on C. diff that might help. They also have a Resource Board (I believe) on C. diff that can give you an idea of other possible treatments. I believe there may be something else they're currently using - it's a thought sitting in the back of my mind, but I can't pull it up - sorry.
Another place to go is cdiffsupport.org. It's a site for people with C. diff. It had, and hopefully still has, good information on the subject.
