camera pill time probably for me..strictures?

by Matthew007, May 07, 2009 09:28AM
I just talked to a specialist and they ruled out pancreatitis for me,

I'm having pretty bad upper left abdominal pain, went to a doctor and he was convinced it was just plain old IBS, told me to go on fiber...I did research on gastroparesis because that could also explain the pain and asked for a blood test for potassium levels possibly being low.

I went on fiber (like the many times I have before.. knew it wouldn't help because i've been sick and getting worse for 3 years with nausea and upper left abdominal pain and constipation..)

and last night I could feel the contents REALLY building up pressure.  I did a small bowel xray/barium back in feb. and that was negative but i've researched that the small bowel xray misses things lots of times..(plus that's liquid barium..not a solid)  anyway i'm starting to be convinced I have some obstruction on my left/upper left small bowel.  I've had MRI's CT scan's...2 colonoscopies..2 endoscopes.. I've really ruled out like everything I can.  The GI offered to have me do the camera pill or barium xray last feb..and man I regret doing that barium.  No results but I can point to exactly where I think the blockage is (right near the tail of the pancrease below stomach upper left)

Questions:

1. anyone ever gotten a pill stuck? (that's my biggest fear..if i'm having severe pain with fiber and it wasn't a lock up.. then yeah..the camera looks pretty decent sized.. i have problems swallowing big pills and this thing looks huge but the big scare is will I be in the ER room screaming in pain and nausea with it getting stuck?  I guess I wouldn't have to wait for surgery then.. I have no history of strictures...only white blood cells in stool, and low white blood cell count..

2. with a stricture, even fasting the pain is there.. anyone had that?  Constant pain?  Like for kicks and giggles I took ducolax and magnesium citrate just like I would normally for a colonoscopy prep and the pain was STILL there pretty severe..and my last colonoscopy was only like 3 months ago (negative)

if anyone has had any experience with strictures or some small bowel blockage that even had problems detecting with camera please let me know, i'm starting to freak out after all these years... :S
