choledochal cyst info

by doodle1, Feb 17, 2002 12:00AM
I'm 27 yrs old and just diagnosed with a choledochal cyst.  Am at home recuperating from infection in cyst as well as from the ERCP done last week.  I will be looking for a surgeon to remove the cyst in the next 3-6 weeks.  What should I be looking for in a surgeon?  My diagnosis is a rare one from what I understand.  They don't know if the cyst has an acute opening onto the bile duct or a large one.  Am a bit nervous, never had surgery before.  Any other information about my condition would be enlightening.  I haven't found much info on the net.  Thanks!

Hi,I'm 28 and I also have a choledochal cyst, mine is a type 3 called a choledochocele, I have had a sphincterototmy to de-roof the cyst, but it didn't help with pain. yours is probabaly up further along the bile duct { mine is located at the end of my bile duct and pancreatic duct} and that's why they need to operate on yours, I have alot of info about choledochal cysts that I've gotten off the internet, if you want I can send them to you, just let me know. good luck with your operation, make sure your surgeon has experience with this type of thing and has done that kind of operation before.

take care,
Tanya
