choleductal cyst

choleductal cyst

I had surgery for a choleductal cyst and have been free of symptoms for 15 years. My daughter has been having similar symptoms for the past 10 years on and off and has been tested for the cyst, had endoscopies and scans and tried meds and still has the same symptoms with diahrea pain bloating,. is it possible to inherit the symptoms and not have the cyst? Or did we miss something on the scans and scope studies she had. The meds are not helping and now she is loosing weight due to not tolerating alot of food

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I would say that it is unlikely that your daughter is suffering from the same thing you suffered from.  What are her symptoms?

she has been getting pain, bloating and nausea. sometimes diahrea. she has been tested for food allergies and trying to take meds make it worse. she stopped the prilosec and pepcid and can only tolerate zantac. she has lost alot of weight with not tolerating food. the pain seems to start when she starts to eat. long episodes of these symptoms then feels better for a bit.

I would recommend she talk to her doctor about a gastric emptying scan to check for gastroparesis.
