my wife has been coughing for 8 months and has had xrays -sinusxrays-gerd test -inhalers-drugs about 12 of them from asthma to antibodics for infection all normalNormal saline flush and nothing but still coughing any ideas
I have GERD but also a chronic cough. Allergist sez my cough is due to acid coming up past the area that is helped by Prilosec and on into the esophagus. I cough twice, my nose becomes congested and eyes run, then I sneeze and it passes. But I do this many times a day. A hard candy sometimes soothes my throat so I don't react to the tickle of the cough coming on.
He suggested Zantac 150 at bedtime and that helped for awhile, but I'm back to the coughing again. Also, my ENT sez that too much Zantac can counteract the Prilosec.
Vicous circle.
