chronic nausea.

I have had chronic nausea for quite a few years now. I had it really bad for a little over a year, although I have had a very sensitive stomach and nausea since I was a kid. I'm 19 now, and still have horrible motion sickness. Then I got pregnant. that was really bad. I developed hyperemesis, and lost 30lbs throughout the pregnancy. Now, almost 3 months after giving birth, the constant nausea is coming back. I had my gallbladder removed a little over a week ago, and was diagnosed with acid reflux while I was pregnant. I am not currently taking my medications for it, because I am having problems with my insurance, and can't afford them. i was wondering if there was something else causing the nausea, as well as a very low appetite. I eat one, maybe two meals a day, and don't always feel very hungry then.

Hi, Im 19 and have been suffering from nausea for almost 5 months now, since Oct 2009. Ive had some blood tests done, and have had  Stemzine and Maxolon to no relief. Im at my wits end, I have gone to see a psychologist who thinks it might be anxiety related, but I just dont know. I just want this awful nausea to go away, I havent vomited but I almost constantly feel like I want to.

If someone can help, please let me know...

No, I have never been diagnosed with IBS. My doctor seems pretty sure that its just the acid reflux, and I have been taking Prevacid and Ranitadine. So far it doesn't seem to be helping much. I have heartburn less then I did, but the nausea isn't any better. I just had my son a few months ago, and the nausea was so bad with him, that I lost 30lbs throughout the pregnancy. I had to take Zofran to be able to stop vomiting. I was told it would go away after I gave birth, and it did ease off for a while. I haven't started vomiting again, but the nausea is coming back and steadily getting worse.

I have been plagued with chronic nausea also.  Just saw the doctor this morning for second time in two weeks. I had my gallbladder removed about 6 months ago.  He is putting me on Reglan because he says he thinks part of my problem is from my intestines not empyting properly, even though I don't seem to have constipation.  In fact lately I have diarrhea.  But a lot of times even when you have diarrhea only a small part of what is in your intestines is coming out,  Your stomach can't empty properly because the intestines are full, and it has nowhere to send the food that it (the stomach) has in it, even after it has been digested by the enzymes and bile.  He says Reglan will help the intestinal muscles move the way they need to to empty out the intestines.  Hope he is right.  I also had just taken a bunch of Ibuprofen for about 3 weeks for pain inmy hands, and that tears the lining of your stomach up.  Almost all medicines tear up the lining of your stomach, which is why you usually sould eat food and water when taking them, (except for those few that say don't take food with it).  Anyway.  I am now on Prevacid (the doctor gave me samples because I can't afford to buy it.  And I am on Pepcid Complete until the Prevacid kicks in.  I did that for 7 days and still had nausea, so now he is trying me on the Reglan.  The other thiing that sometimes happens after gallbladder surgery is that there is still a problem with the bile duct from your liver, and they have to go in and clean that out.  But he says that is rare.  Sorry to write a book.  Hang in there.  You will get to the bottom of it.  But every trip to the doctor costs money, I know, and I am in a financial bind myself, and medicines usually cost a lot of money.  It makes it hard to get the help you need.

I have the same problems. But the general surgeon I saw says it's not related to my gallbladder and won't remove it. Fine. I have modified my diet. I try to be strict about what I eat. I stay away from coffee products, chocolate, spicey and salty foods, foods high in fat and calories, cola's, greasy foods. I try to drink as much water as I can. I have to take zofran or phenergan pretty frequently. It's frustrating.

Don't over eat when you eat. I'm sure you don't. Have you ever been diagnosed with IBS? Irritable bowel syndrome?

I have been drinking warm tea. It helps with the nausea. There are not a lot of over the counter antinausea meds to choose from. ;-( Motion sickness pills can help, but they will make you drowsy. If you can go to your doctor, ask for samples....

I hope you get to feeling better soon. You're not alone.
