I've been having chronic nausea for the last 3 years.
The symptoms come and go in no predictable manner. For the firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc six months or so I had constipation along with the nausea. I went to my doctor and she thought maybe the constipation was causing it and prescribed Reglan to combat it. I seemed to feel a bit better when I took the Reglan but it made me so tired that I couldn't function at work and when I was home I slept almost constantly. Shortly after that I had loose stools for about a year. It also caused a considerable amount of anxiety an hour or so after I ingested it which exascerbated the problem.
I went back to the doctor recently and she put me on a 300mg dose of ranitidineRanitidine Ranitidine bismuth citrate Ranitidine hydrochloridetwiceTwice-a-day a day and also SertralineSertraline Sertraline hydrochloride for anxiety which she thought might be causing the nausea. I've been taking that for a few months now . It seems to help sometimes but I still have bouts of nausea once or twice a week that can last anywhere from one day to three but my anxiety levels have dropped greatly. This makes me think that the anxiety isn't causing the nausea.
I'm considering going back to her again to try somthing else but I'm a little hesitant because the last two times haven't helped. I think perhaps I'd like to see a gastroenterologist. All I know is I can't continue living like this, it's effecting my work and my personal life and I feel very helpless. Any suggestions would be helpful.
You may want to discuss the possibility that the nausea might be related to gallbladder issues with your doc. In some, nausea can be one of the first symptoms. You may want to consider asking about both a gallbladder ultrasound and HIDA scan with CCK injection to check both the structure and function of your gallbladder.
Gallbladder issues can cause both constipation and diarrhea, so it's worth asking about.
