chronic nausea

chronic nausea

Hi! First let me begin by saying I am asking my question here because I do not have health insurance and I would like to know what I could be dealing with before going to a hospital and making myself a huge medical bill. Here are my symptoms: nausea morning, noon, and night for the last week in a half- no vomiting. Very tired. Pain in the upper right quadrant and by right shoulder blade... The nausea was awful right after eating McDonalds almost vomited. I became very sick all of sudden, lightheaded and a tad bit dizzy.....then the pain on my right side followed about an hour or two later. I am tender on the right side kinda below rip cage almost midsection and it radiates to the back and sort of in the middle by chestbone..I can still walk and move although the nausea makes it tough at times. Nausea does seem to get worse after eating but otherwise is with me regardless if I eat. I have no fever yet, I do have chills. I have gas and a little bit of bloating. I was diagnosed with a slow empting stomach a few years ago. Not on any medication. Heartburn just showed up last night but is mild. I know its not pregnacy related..not active at this present time. My period is late by that is normal for me. I normally do not get any of this symptoms before my period. If I was to rate nausea on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst ever I would be at a 8...pain on side- 6.

Bowel movements have been the same for me although I have noticed that I am a bit constipated. well I think that about it.

hate to say it but those are symptoms of a gallbladder/stone attack..right sided upper abdominal pain *usually* is gallstones.

When you eat fatty/oily foods, after the food passes the stomach the gallbladder squeezes out bile to help digest food.  If you have a stone or your gallbadder isn't working correctly then you have major IBS/nausea and other problems..

the other thing it could be (well it could be a lot..) but it could be an ulcer.  If you eat something usually it feels better temp. unless it's something fatty that takes a lot of acid to break down..then you'll feel awful.

You're probably looking at the very least a blood test to check your liver/stomach for ulcers..and maaaaybe a ct scan or ultrasound/HIDA scan of your gallbladder looking for possible stones or sludge.

In the meantime i'd avoid fats/oily foods as much as possible..that'll help let your gallbladder catch up.  But no doubt if you are still sick you probably should go see a doctor..but anyway hang in there :S (had mine removed without insurance..it's expensive..)
