, and it was from taking an antibiotics so I had to hospitalice for 6 days and I was given flagyl in the hospital and to continue at home. Now today I got sick from a cold and the Dr. gave azitromicine (excuse my english but I live in Venezuela) I only took one tablet and again I receive diarrhea so I call him and he said stop the antibiotics and to take again falgyl, my question is this is going to be for the rest of my life that every time I take any antibiotics I will receive this , and how is the flegyl good for any kind of infection meaning if for example this will kill the bacteria that cause a cold? What if I get a different type of inffection this is the only antibiotics I can drink?
and will have bouts of it when you take a antibiotic. Make sure you always tell your dr that you have this and that it flare ups with antibiotics. Tell him you have been able to take flagyl. Sometimes they give you steroids to take with the antibiotics so that it doesn't cause the colitis
so this means i will live with it for the rest of my life? and what happen to the infections that flagyl does not work for the bacterias ?? and does the bacterias can develop resistence to flagyl??
What were your symptoms when u had c.diff bacteria? I am asking because myself i took clyndamicine for 1 week and was on ssevere diarhhea for 3 weeks, taking probiotics stopped the diarrhea but there are two months that i have stomach pains, and abdominal pains and alot of sounds in the abdomen like the abdomen is cold. did you have abdomen spasms
i had abdominal pain and diarrhea and even if i drank a little bid of water i was in extreme pain and more or less i was going to the bathroom every 20 minutes .
I am in this situation for two months. Had diarrhea for 3 weeks, then it stopped from taking probiotics but the stomach and abdominal pain is increasing. I am in horrible pain after i eat and have stomach and abdominal pains. The doctor made a stool test for bacterias but said it was ok. Did you have a stool test for bacterias in general or it is a specific one for c.diff bacteria? It is two months im getting worse with intense and constant abdominal and stomach pains and been 3 times to the doctor.
side effect of most antibiotics is diarrhea (among other GI disturbances). C. Diff is often associated with abdominal cramping and foul smelling diarrhea (there is definitely a distinct smell
For a little background, C.diff is an opportunistic bacteria...which means that this bacteria needs a certain type of environment to flourish. What often happens in a C.diff infection is that the person has been on antibiotics for a period of time, killing the natural flora of the gut. The C.diff organism, then, takes this opportunity to attach itself to the colon in place of your natural flora (bacteria) and colonizes...leading to the diarrhea, abdominal cramping, etc.
It is true that C.diff infection can predispose you to colitis.
I think you need to go see your physician and possibly have stool cultures performed, so that you know what is the culprit of your diarrhea. Again, a common side effect of most antibiotics is diarrhea.
