Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for more details. If you don't feel satisfied with what they tell you, you can ask for your film and go for a second opinion. It is a scary thing to be told something you don't understand and you should go to the man/woman with the x-ray who can hopefully tell you more or order further testing so more can be discovered.
An obstruction of the colon can be caused by stool impaction, or a physical problem. I've never heard of the term "closing" maybe narrowing would have been a better choice of words. Never leave your doctors office without all the answers, why, what, how, etc. It would help to know your symptoms that prompted the xray. You don't want to fool around with a blockage
I went to the Doctor having severe pain in my lower back which moved to my lower abdomen. Upon examanation the doctor pushed down on the lower left part of my abdomen and I about came off the table.
She sent me for blood work and an x-ray to chech my appendix
, gallbladder and pancreas. The x-ray tech took a look at the film and called the doctor and sent me back upstairs.
The doctor showed me the film and said that I was litterally full of poop. It was bad enough that she said normally they would send a person in that situation to the hospital. However, after confering with another Dr. They sent me home and told me to buy a couple of fleet enemas
. prescription lactulose and a stool softner/laxitive. They are hoping I can clean myself out while I am waiting for them to set up a colonoscopy to check for blockage or narrowing of the colon. Does this info help
