colonrecection

i have to have a colon recection done due to diverticulitis, how painful is this surgery and how long will i need to recover before returning to normal activity

Hi - I think the operation is a colon "resection" - also referred to as a total colectomy and also an ileorectal anastomosis.

I underwent a total colectomy over five years ago for torrential diverticular bleeding and, in response to another Medhelp patient's question, I described my experiences.  You can find them on:-
