constant low grade fevers and chronic pancreatitis

by tld73, Sep 20, 2002 12:00AM
Hi, I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis last year, I have good weeks and bad weeks with the pain, I have had constant diarrhea and I've had a low grade fever every day for months now and it makes me feels miserable, sometimes I get real shaky and weak and I can feel my temp rising, especially when I get nauseaus. I'm also having problems now with awful acid burn in my thoat, I cannot lye on my back or right side without burning liqiud coming up and usually I have a gnawing burning pain in my stomach. Are the fevers part of having chronic pancreatitis? what about the acid burn?

Thanks,
Tanya

The low grade fevers seem to be pretty common with CP.  I have CP and it happens with me quite often.  I have not had a problem with the acid burning sensation you describe, yet have heard others speak of it, particularly those CP patients that also have Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction (SOD).  Since this is a new development for you, I suggest you see your gastroenterologist as soon as you can get an appointment and have this checked out.  It sounds very uncomfortable.

Thanks nanny, I feel better knowing the fevers are probabaly coming from my pancreatitis, I actually called today for an appointment and I have one for October 3rd, meanwhile I'm eating tums and drinking pepto bismal like it's going out of style! they help for a little while, then it just starts up again:(

Thanks again,
Tanya
