constant nausea

by clairec43, Nov 05, 2009 09:26PM
I have suffered from constant nausea for the last 10 months.  Im lucky if I get 2 or 3 days per month when I dont feel like being sick though as yet I havent actually vomited - but have come very close quite often!  I have no appetite and cant eat at all at least 2 or 3 days per week the rest of the time I eat very small portions of bland food, such as boiled potatoes, boiled egg or plain bread.  The most adventurous I get is tomato soup.  Even these tiny amounts of food leave me feeling uncomfortably full and more often than not trigger an extreme feeling of nausea.  Several nights a week I wake up suddenly after 45 minutes of sleep with an intense feeling of nausea.  Im taking the maximum daily dose of domperidone plus 30mg-60mg of lansoprazole per day and co-codamol.  I have lost a considerable amount of weight and it has affected my quality of life to a huge degree.  I have had an ultrasound scan and stool sample both of which were clear and am due to see a gastroenterologist at the end of the month.  I cant help feeling that my GP isnt taking this seriously, just seems to think Im making a fuss over nothing.  Ive recently been prescribed a low dose of antidepressant even though I dont think Im depressed just very very fed up of feeling this way.  I also get pain just below my left ribcage which spreads to my back and shoulder.  Ive even had chest and left arm pains which scared the life out of me but an ECG proved fine.  During an examination by my GP she noticed my upper abdomen was very tender and has mentioned gastritis as a possible cause.  But so far shes suggested IBS, an ulcer and gallstones all of which appear to be guesses!  Any ideas please.
