My son was in hosp for stomach virus/dehydration before Xmas. After he came home I became sick with nausea.Spent 12/23-12/25 in hosp for dehy.Came home and still sick.Saw a GI doc on 12/26 back in hosp for dehy and to do scope of stomach. In hosp on metoclopramide, carafate & prilosec.Said scope looked fine and said probably virus and stress/anxiety.Sent me home with carafate & metoc. for 1 week and still on prilosec.Saw a psych doc about anxiety and she said that I was a little anxious but didn't need anything.Took several days to get back to eating normal and had been doing great until 1/12.On 1/12 son had fever and runny nose, he was fine the next day.I wasn't really worried about him but on that same day started to feel sick to stomach again.I have felt sick since then.I have seen the pysch doc and seeing her agian on Wed.I admit I can be a worry wart but when this started I didn't feel really worried or anxious.Went back to GI doc on Wed and ran cbc,he said was fine and I needed to get myself together.I did have my GB out in 7/04 because of gallstones after first kid born.I did have a sinus infection but it showed itself on Sunday,2days after feeling sick to stomach.I will feel like starting to feel better only to have it return.I have been eating as much as possible and drinking, starting to wonder if it has anything to do with sugar or adrenal gland.Last 2 days have felt a little better and then feel hungry and get a headache, feel out of it, get jittery.I try to eat and egg or meat and then I do feel a little better.Last night hungry and feeling weird at 5,ate 1/2 piece of chix and rice felt a little better, same feeling at 6:40 ate chix and green beans and felt better.Went up to bed at 8:00 ate 2 snack bars at 8:30 because feeling hungry, took a zofran and went to sleep.Woke up at 10:30 feeling weird and hungry, got up ate more chix and green beans and snack bar, felt a little better and went back to sleep.Up twice in the night to eat and this morning woke up feeling very sick to stomach (dry heaving & small amount of yellow stomach liquid & saliva),weak, tired, cloudy head.My sinuses are still draining some but I have sinus infections quite a bit and never felt this bad.I finished my zpac yesterday, all drainage is clear but still quite a bit of it.Ate an egg felt little better but then I got a headache and waves of nausea. Gonna try to go to a new GP tommorrow. Any suggestions form anyone about what to ask for.I am not convinced that this is all anxiety.I am a little worried because I feel so sick and wondering what it is.Any help would be great.

You can further evaluate the GI tract.  The upper endoscopy would rule out many of the major upper GI diseases.  However, more specialized testing like a 24-hr pH study, gastric emptying scan, or abdominal ultrasound can be considered.

If GI diseases have been ruled out, examining for neurological causes of nausea can be considered.  A brain MRI would be a reasonable initial choice of test.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

HAVE THEM CHECK FOR HYPOGLYCEMIA OR DIABETES.  KEEP A DIARY OF WHAT YOU EAT AND YOUR SYMPTOMS AND WHAT YOU WERE DOING AT THE TIME.  FIND A CARING DOCTOR.  DO YOUR RESEARCH AND KEEP NOTES IN A NOTEBOOK.  DON'T GIVE UP.  I'M STILL LOOKING FOR ANSWERS.  DO YOU HAVE STOMACH BLOATING WHERE YOU LOOK PREGNANT, IF SO HAVE THEM TEST FOR MECKLES DIVERTICULOSIS.  THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS I HAD, I WAS NAUSEATED ALL THE TIME AND WOULD WAKE UP TO EAT SOMETHING.  ALSO I HAD GERD AND THE PURPLE PILL -CAN'T THINK OF THE NAME-NEXIUM? IT HELPED ALOT WITH REFLUX AND NAUSEA.  IT BASICALLY WENT AWAY BUT I STILL HAVE THE SEVERE BLOATING.

GOOD LUCK
