crohns disease, ulcerative colitis and narrowing small intestine
Is there anyone who can help me? Was diagnosed with crohns appx. 7 years ago, and it didn't flare back up again until Mar. 2009, this time with a vengeance. Horrible lower right quadrant stomach pain, constipation sometimes, diarrhea when i do go, stomach distended, nauseous, skin, lip
problems, and generally feeling ill all over. My G.I. Dr. put me on Entocort for 2 months, and Flagyl for the rest of my life, and also probiotics (VSL#3). I am still feeling very poorly. With the narrowing of the small intestine, he also put me on very restrictive
diet; no fiber, nuts shells, vegetables, (with the exception of carrots, beets, potatos), no seeds. I need to know if I need to go to hospital, would they consider a strictureplasty, bowel resection
? I need help now, since I am not feeling any better.
My G.I. says that he is trying to keep me out of surgery, but if it buys me some quality of life for some time, then why not? I feel as though I am not going to make it. This flare up has such a stranglehold on me, that I am having a very hard time coping. And I cannot even imagine not ever being able to eat salad and vegetables for the rest of my life! I am going to seek out another G.I. Dr., as I feel something more could be done for the treatment of this horrible disease. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
