cut bile duct during gallbladder surgery

father bile duct cut during gallbladder surgery, he was transferred to university hospital and it was repaired. the doctor who did gb surgery told me "he was a bleeder and i saw cirrhosis" he had to go to hospital several times to get fluid tap,so a pleurx catheter was put in and now home health care comes 3x week and gets 3000ml each time. i have read that a bile duct injury is very bad. please any info will be appreciated
