my 69 year old mom had a nissan fundoplicationHiatal hernia repair nov 2006 (she had intermittent ibs symptoms prior)and since has had chronic diarrhea (up to 15 yellowYellow fever vaccine Yellow nail syndrome-orange stools a day, high fat), hot flashes, near syncopal episodes, shortness of breathBreath alcohol test Breath holding spell Breath odor and has lost 65 pounds. according to the md's everything they test is 'normalNormal saline flush' they say they have ruled out crohns, carcinoidBronchial adenoma syndrome, and thyroid problems. Addrenals also are suppose to be ok, her cortisal is low but in normalNormal saline flush range. now they are calling it 'diabetic diarrhea' when she has never had an a1c over 7.5. they have started her on lotronex. the hospitalist (she has been hospitalized 10 days) is not sure which way to go next. nothing else has helped the diarrhea. they are also giving her enzymes with every meal. what else can be considered? she is wasting away
