diarrhea & hot flashes

my 69 year old mom had a nissan fundoplication nov 2006 (she had intermittent ibs  symptoms prior)and since has had chronic diarrhea (up to 15 yellow-orange stools a day, high fat), hot flashes, near syncopal episodes, shortness of breath and has lost 65 pounds. according to the md's everything they test is 'normal' they say they have ruled out crohns, carcinoid syndrome, and thyroid problems. Addrenals also are suppose to be ok, her cortisal is low but in normal range. now they are calling it 'diabetic diarrhea' when she has never had an a1c over 7.5.   they have started her on lotronex. the hospitalist (she has been hospitalized 10 days) is not sure which way to go next. nothing else has helped the diarrhea. they are also giving her enzymes with every meal. what else can be considered? she is wasting away

Try looking up "Habba Syndrome".  It was on the Discovery Channel on "Mystery Diagnosis" a few months ago.
