diarrhea

Hi there,

First of all thank you for the great work you are doing, you are really helping lot of people out there!

On Monday I went doctor since I had some fever and sore throat, he said it was tonsillitis and prescribed me Augmentin 500g (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium) and paracetamol. Okay now I don't have fever anymore and I don't feel the pain, it's getting better so I've stoped with paracetamol. But since yesterday I've started to have diarrhea. It's painless, I just notice some sounds in my stomach and a sudden need to go wc. I called my doctor for an appointment but seems like everyone is sick right now here and I must to wait until Monday.

My question is the following:

Maybe any of these medicaments was the cause of my diarrhea? What you think I should do? I would stop with augmentin but my doctor told me to keep with it for 8 days or the infection could come back.

Thanks in advance! (and sorry for my poor english)

thank you for your answer Cjegger.

I'ts been two days, I still have the same diarrhea and the treatment should be until monday (the day I'll see my doctor). I'm really afraid about this antibiotic, but I know it's important to take it for 8 days. Do you think it's dangerous to keep with augmentin or should I stop it? It's already 4 days now with this really liquid diahrrea.

thanks!

Oh, yeah, antiobiotics can definitely cause diarrhea.  Been there, done that!
