did you find your book?

by pennymichele, Sep 13, 2008 11:00PM
ooops...I posted this to the wrong person the first go round

I'm so glad that my suggestion of the Prescription for Nutritional Healing book was a hopeful one for you.  I look in this book all the time for a way to take care of things naturally with supplements and nutriton.  I've even been able to get my parents on board with supplements to help control their blood pressure and cholestoral.  This book has alot of information about all kinds of health issues.  I really like it because it also explains how the symtom occurs and how the supplements work to correct it.

I only wish I knew what was causing me so much discomfort in my abdomen.  I have a constant pressure under my ribcage just to the right of my stomach.  It feels as though something is swollen.  Sometimes it tends to go away and then I am sore in that area.  I also have lots of burning in my stomach, belching, and occasionally nausea.  I never have pain that radiates to my side and back like I have read with gallbladder symtoms.  I went to the doc and he sent me for ultrasound and bloodwork.  He says the gallbladder looks fine and bloodwork is all within normal range.  He is sending me back for ct scan.  I have just been miserable as this pressure stays with me most of the time.  The only time I can get relief is when I lay down, which doesn't happen often with three boys to take care of...lol!

I haven't seen your posts and if you don't mind me asking what was your question?

Yeah, I found both of your posts. I was in the process of completing a long saga to share when my network went nuts again! Must have been a message from the universe my blog was too long. LOL
I have retrieved the book from the shelf and earmarked a few pages to read on IBS. I plan to look through the index to see what other areas may be pertinent to my situation. I used that book a lot when I first got it and found great stuff for friends, family and even me. Funny how we can forget the resources we have right at hand.
Without belaboring the specifics, my unanswered post is "Amitiza-Does it really work". It is on the gastro and ibs forum. Read if you have a chance and any feedback will be appreciated. I hope your CT scan reveals information that is useful to you and your doctor.Good luck and keep me posted on the progess.
Thanks again for the book reminder!

Good Afternoon,
I am not suggesting to anyone on this forum that "stress" will cause changes in the color or consistency of bowel movements. I think I was pretty clear that a physician can help you determine the cause. I do agree that exploring the side effects of medication including OTC meds and different foods you eat may do these things. I can share my own experience with anyone who wants to know, but it still remains only my experience. The only point I'm making is that some doctors want to tell us "it is all the stress in you life causing the problem" when they don't know what else to do or say. Based on your comments, it sounded as if the doc was sort of blowing you off as you mentioned your weight needed to come down. I have never heard anyone say that stools changed color because of his/her weight.
Not feeling well for extended periods of time does leave individuals feeling frightened, confused and not sure where to turn next. Ah, the advantage of a forum like this. Sound mind, sound body . . . a holistic approach to healing. It is certainly a part of Eastern traditions that believe the dis-ease in the body can be healed by structural changes such as manipulation treatments, accupuncture, diet, etc. I am just another person looking for answers that others may have found in their own search. I cannot pose as a physician because I am not a doctor.
I did get out the book that pennymichele recommended as I was fortunate to have it in my office. I certainly plan to look through there and see what I can add on my own that the doctors did not suggest.
Again, good luck and I hope you get to the root of your medical issues. I'll keep my eye out for new post from you to check your progress.
