difficulty swallowing

by stocklord, Sep 30, 2001 12:00AM
I have been having problems swallowing solids for about 3 years. The food seems to get lodged in the esophagus, and then very slowly works its way down, causing discomfort. Sometimes it seems to get totally blocked, and the food backs up to my throat. I have had an endoscopy, and there is no blockage, but there is inflammation of the lower esophagus. I have been taking 30mg of lansaprazole which cured me completely to start with, but has become less effective over time. If I stop the medication, the symptoms return. Does anyone else suffer from this, and have they found any better treatment?
Thanks.
