Sometimes I suppose it can, but I wouldn't try it unsupervised because if it gets worse instead of better because there is infection or the wall is weakened and intestinal pressure blows it out, the abdominal contents can spill into the abdominal cavity.  That's a life-threatening emergency with surgery and a long recovery - if you're lucky.  Not something to play around with.

I agree with pas22.  I experienced multiple episodes, last year at this time, and was on the meds.  I would def see a gi as the results of a perforation or stricture can be catastrophic.  I ended up having surgery to remove part of my sigmoid colon because all of the episodes scarred it so bad I was starting to stricture.  God bless and hope this helps.  We had a friend who was not so lucky. Not trying to scare you but being real.
