How is postural hypotension treaded and diagnosted in liver disease?  many of the medications available for this problem
do not to appear to be safe for liver disease patients.  Also
are TUMS safe for nausea in patient's with liver disease?
I do not know what is causing the hypotension, I have no bleeding or any other symptoms besides the nausea.  My last
blood pressure was 138/86 sitting and 118/86 standing.  I have
no dizziness sitting it is just when I get up and walk around
myl ft test, ultrasound and ct scan were all normal.  But I
could any other problems be causing this?

The treatment of postural hypotension would depend on the cause.  Volume depletion as well as autonomic insufficiency would be major causes.  The first would be treated with fluid repletion, the second with medications such as steroids (such as Florinef) or autonomic agents like midodrine.

Although possible, I am not aware of a specific connection between liver disease and postural hypotension.  Discussion of the medications' effects on the liver should be made with your personal physician.

A referral to a neurologist or cardiologist can be considered if the cause is still in question.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Hi there, can anyone tell me if my symptoms sound like liver disease. I have been feeling ill for over a year now, totally fatigued, nauseous and groggy especially in the morning.I can sleep forever. I have suffered itching on and off. I have put a lot of weight on although am losing my appetite. I have no pain, no jaundice but intermittent diarrheoa. I suffer from urticaria and have red spots all over my chest that the doc cant diagnose. I feel shaky and just 'not right' and I have a spider vein on my nose but then again it runs in my family. Been back and forward to the doc for blood tests all year but they've come back normal. She's even started me on thyroxine as my blood came back borderline but its not really helping. I have binge drunk once a week for 10 years and I've noticed that I dont seem to be able to handle it as much. I black out a lot and feel awful for about 5 days afterwards. I am 35 now and am worried sick. I dont exercise and eat a lot of fatty food too. I havent told the doctor about my drinking as only doing it once a week, I wasnt particulary worried then but after reading this forum, I am now.
