does a gall bladder flush help with low functioning gall bladder ?
i have suffered from abdominal pain for 10 years !! upper right quadrant, i have had numerous ultra-sounds, but they found nothing, finally, i was sent for a hida scan, when i had the injection that simulated eating a fatty
meal, and how my gall bladder would react,,,,,,,,, i became horribly ill, i was told this would last aprx 3 to 5 minutes, the nausea, and pain lasted for a few days, it was absolutely horrible, the results of the hida scan showed no stones, but that my gall bladder was functioning at only 12% i was told nothing could be done to "jump start" a low functioning gall bladder,,,,,,,, i am scheduled to have it removed on feb 7th............my parents think i am making a mistake, and that i should try a "gall bladder flush" 3 days of nothing but 100% non sweetened apple juice, and on the end of the 3rd day, a 1/2 cup of olive oil....... from what i have read, looks like that may help get rid of stones ( i have none) but what about the function of my gall bladder ? would there be any effect on that ?
ALSO, i have been diagnosed as having "fatty
No, there is nothing you can do to get your gallbladder back to functioning normally. I agree with your decision to go ahead with the surgery. When you see your surgeon for your post-op appointment, ask him to review the pathology report with you. You may find that your gallbladder has been chronically infected for quite some time. In other words, there is a medical reason for why it's not functioning well, and the pathology report generally answers that question. Good luck on your surgery! I think you'll be surprised at how much better you'll be feeling once you get rid of that gallbladder. :-)
im having a HIDA scan done on thursday and ive been suffering from severe abdominal pain and i have no stones nor ulcers in my stomach; what do you think the possibility is i will have to get my gall bladder removed?
What I was told by medical personnel is completely in sync with what Jaybay above has shared.
I had other people advise me to do flushes and this and that but I'd had enough. I just wanted my gallbladder out and be done with it.
I was scheduled to have it removed due to severe pain and vague issues showing up on the u/s. But just before surgery a radiologist wanted to have one more look and ordered an MRI. That revealed a whole lot.
The medical reason for my gallbladder not functioning well was that it had a tumor on the inside wall. That never showed up clearly on an u/s. And neither did the stones I ended up having.
I'm so glad I went ahead with the surgery. I feel so much better.
in my body and said I need surgery. Since, I had nothing to lose I did several flushes and to this day, I have never had anymore attacks. The medical community is not GOD.
