dull pain in rib cage for past week

I had a mammogram yesterday and thought that my breast pain was causing my rib cage pain for the past few weeks. Well, they found nothing on my mammogram, but my rib cage is still hurting and it is penetrating to my lower right rib cage. I have been having pain for the last few weeks in under my right shoulder blade as well. I had a huge kidndey stone in the early 90's. I am currently breastfeeding as well. What could this be?

Kidney stones can cause pain similiar to this, so you might want to check on that. Any gallbladder issues in your family - do you have gallstones?

No, I don't know of any gallstones in the family. Just hx of ovarian and breast cancer in my family. Can kidney stones cause upper right rib pain?

If the pain is slightly to the right of midline in the back - above the beltline - yes, it can be related to kidney problems. That pain won't typically radiate into the shoulder blade, however, and gallbladder issues can 'ride up' into the shoulder blade and shoulder, itself. If you're having any bowel habit changes, that could also be related to GB issues.
