If the pain is slightly to the right of midline in the back - above the beltline - yes, it can be related to kidney problems. That pain won't typically radiate into the shoulder blade, however, and gallbladder issues can 'ride up' into the shoulder blade and shoulder, itself. If you're having any bowel habit changes, that could also be related to GB issues.
