Thanks. I am going to see a knee specialist this Friday.
By the way, i failed to mention that i've had sore knees on and off for years also except this one time after doing deep knee bends the knee actually swole up very big for a couple of weeks. thats the first time that happend. But prior, my knee had given me problems over the years since i was 11 or 12 yrs old. One time when playing in a 6th grade basketball game the same knee went out on me and i could barely walk for a week. I also played little league back catcher for 3 yrs and i always felt slight knee pain even back then and that was 25 yrs ago!!!
The left shoulder problem as i said has been going on for years also. I havent been able to touch the back of my right shoulder without pain and discomfort, reaching across the front of my body with my left hand, for about 10 yrs.
My cholesterol levels were fine and in the normal ranges.
So elevated Creatine Kinase is associated with herpes. wow. i've read a ton of stuff and i dont think i've come across that one..
is there a website that explains that?
Do you think a throrough analysis of my knee/knees would shed light on the elevated Creatine levels?
I have read that when muscles leak, they can leak Creatine Kinase into the blood stream, but i didnt know the knee had any skeletal muscle. I thoughtBOTH the shoulder and the knee were merely joints?
hi , eric
Creatinine Kinase (CK, CPK) is an enzyme found primarily in the heart and skeletal muscles, and to a lesser extent in the brain. Significant injury to any of these structures will lead to a measurable increase in CK levels. Causes of elevation include Myocardial infarction ,Crushing muscular trauma , Any cardiac or muscle disease, but not myesthenia gravis or multiple sclerosis , Brain injury , Hypothyroidism ,Hypokalemia .
in your case elevated is moslty due to shoulder and knee trama and will take some time to come down siince once elevated, CK remains elevated for several days, if the injury is acute.
If there is on-going injury, the CK will remain elevated indefinitely
elevated CK has also been found in herpes infection.
Also ur AST is only slightly high could be high due to alchol intake and skeletal trama
Also have u been on any medications lately ? wht abt cholesterol ?
