elevated liver enzymes

by alec1, Feb 22, 2008 10:41PM
My mother-in-law had orange looking urine and was having some abdominal pain, along with belching and gas.  They ran routine blood tests and her biliruibin is 2.3, her AST-SGOT is 675, and her ALT-SGTP is 756.  They did an MRI and said she has two small cysts on her kidney, but her liver and abdominal area looked fine.  They gave her the diagnosis of diverticulitis, which she already knew she had.  I can find nothing that ties these elevated liver enzymes results to diverticulitis.  Could you give us your thoughts?  Thank you.

The elevated liver enzymes have nothing to do with the diverticulitis. Your MIL needs to find out what is going on with her liver enzymes. Whether this is due to the liver or the gallbladder. Prod the docs to do more tests. And if they haven't already suggested a followup (her normal doc) then find a new doc who knows what they're doing.
