endoscopy

Hi,
I had an endoscopy today.  The only thing the Dr saw was a small hiatial hernia at the top of my stomach, at the base of my esophagus.  That doesn't cause any problems or this fullness problem.  There is one more test I'll do which is one where I'll drink a chalky fluid and they'll watch it go down.  They'll X-ray it as it hits my stomach to see how it reacts.  My stomach may not empty properly.  

I don't know.  I'm deflated.  I'm glad it's nothing serious but I want an answer.  Not sure what to do next.  I'm tempted to just forget it or go see an Internist for their opinion of what to do.  I was so afraid of this.

Hi and thanks for your encouragement.  I guess most people start with an Internist and move on from there...no me boy.  I went straight to the source.  LOL  Really, the only reason I saw my GYN was because he wanted to do the ultrasound then he refered me to the GI Dr.  I haven't had a full blood workup yet, which I think I need.  I will look for an Internist and make the appointment for the emptying test.

It is comforting to know that people go through this a lot.

Unfortunately, you're probably just at the beginning of the whole gastro workup.  There's plenty more yet to be done, and the emptying test is really an easy one.  It's hard to keep your patience when you feel crappy, and I know you want an answer yesterday, but medicine just doesn't work that way these days.  And maybe this next test will be your last and you'll have some answers.  Anyway, now is not the time to give up and move on to an internist.  We've all been in the same boat, so know you're not alone in that respect  :-)
