enema's?

by kaya, Dec 16, 2001 12:00AM
Does anyone know exactly what a stretched out colon is.  I heard it can happen with overuse of laxatives and enemas. If the colon is stretched can it go back to normal?  I am severely constipated and have tried both.  The enemas cleared me out and I thought I was doing a good thing now I hear enemas stretch out the colon and are very bad?  Any feedback?  Thanks Kaya  I was using the enemas more because the laxatives really irritated my insides, now is it better to use the enemas to go (or else I go once every 3 weeks now, or am I harming myself.  I take one clean water enema a week and retain the water for only one minute and then I go once maybe 2x a week. Taking anything by mouth really causes me too much pain.  I do take enough fiber and drink lots of water.
