eosinophilic gastroenteritis any new meds?

by itsme716, Apr 13, 2007 12:00AM
Hey everyone, I am a 35 year old female who was dx with eosinophilic gastroenteritis about 2 years ago.  I have been on prednisone since May of last year.  I am trying to dose down but everytime I get to about 10 mg. I get sick again.  I can't keep taking the steriods because I also have severe osteoporosis, extremely evident in my left hip and my T1-T4.  Has anyone heard of anything new that they are trying or any clinical trials that may be going on?  I can't take this anymore, the being sick all the time and not being able to eat.  Throwing up, doesn't matter whether you eat or not, and it seems each time I have come out of remission the illness is worse, my GI doesn't know what else to do.  Any suggestions?  Also, mine happens to be idiopathic so the elmination diets and allergy meds doesn't help at all.  I also take Pentasa, protonix, along with high blood pressure meds, and my best friend, phenegran.
