. The instinct is to swallow it down, only to have it raise up again. The only solution is to gag and the large amounts of air escape with instant relief. What causes such a thing? Weak muscle at top of stomach? I have heard esophageal
such as Sjorgens. I have those types of diseases common in family but nothing diagnosed with me other than a bout of transverse myelitis. I certainly do not have other symptoms of Sjorgens. Any ideas? I also have GERD and take Prilosec for many years.
I found an article on Yahoo...Vagus Nerve Imbalance/Hiatal Hernia Syndrome", that described many of my symptoms. Some of the symptoms mentioned are the inability to take a deep breath, belching and swallowing air. Maybe it can give you some insight.
Good luck.
I believe I have the same problem. I get ait trapped and have to open mouth and move around to let it out slowly. It is very incomfortable and sometimes keeps me from sleeping. I also have GERD, but do not goet too much acid. I have been told maybe some sort of valve, but that is not that helpful. Have you found any helo yet in this area?
