esophagial pain

by vibrolux, Feb 10, 2002 12:00AM
I am a 50 year old male,  and have had a a history of  digestive related problems. about a year and a half ago I underwent upper GI,  and endoscopy to see what the problem was.
I was diagnosed with Hiatal Hernia , GERD and slight gastritis.
I take prevacid when the refux flares up.
But I have experienced something new in the past year.

About a year ago I had a spicy meal and ate fast within an hour or so i had pain in my upper chest that did not go away with antacids,  also when i would take a deep breath it would hurt, this lasted the whole day and next morning i felt considereably better. I thought that I just irritated my Hiatal Hernia.

It happened two more times since with the same outcome.
Now I experienced it but it seems like it stays longer.
As im writing this I stil have some pain ,  It has been a couple

of days since the episode, the next morning it felt sensative  and it hurts when i take a deep breath.  Ive started my Prevacid and am being careful as to what i am eating but Im not sure what to , also when i bend over to lift something i hurts the pain is in the upper chest areaalmost reaching to my neck.

I have that kind of pain from an inflamed esophagus.  Some days worse than others especially if I eat something that irritates when it's going down.  I find liquid gaviscon helps.

It really feels crappy doesn't it.

Take care.

I forgot to ask you vibrolux if the pain you're having radiates to your back at all?
