esophagitis?

esophagitis?

I've had a sore throat for past 6 days with increasing pain and burning with swallowing - the pain begins in my throat and continues as the food, drink goes down.  I then feel an almost spasm-like pain after the swallow.  I've had an episode (5 years ago) of herpetic esophagitis and 3-year history of pharyngeal spasm.  I have peptic ulcers on and off (take protonix as needed).  I've had numerous scopings over the years and would love to avoid another.  Would it be advisable to take valtrex and just wait?
