flashes of heat with diarrhea knock me out

I hope you can help me?

Several times in my life (first one at 16) I have had a gastric event that is quite dramatic and particular. These episodes are becoming more frequent. I have had two in the last 6 months. They involve the following:

Always at night. I wake with discomfort in belly and a sense of dread. I go to sit on the loo as I feel an explosion is coming. Before it makes it way out there are intense abdominal cramps and violent flashes of heat with sweat that knock me unconscious. I have regained consciousness more than once on the bathroom floor (covered in feaces). After the intense heat comes freezing cold shaking and shivering but then it passes and I am very tired. These bouts go on all night. Sometimes there is vomiting as well, often both at the same time. The diarrhoea has a strong muscular expulsion to it that builds and fades. The flashes of heat are so intense I have ripped off my clothes and lay on the cold floor (if I don’t faint). I never faint at any other time nor do I get hot flashes at any other time.

I have tried to establish common factors contributing to these episodes and one is alcohol. Not a large amount, half a glass of wine could do it. I do not always react to alcohol this way and do not always react to sugar or wheat either. It is just that when I do, I do it big time! I am ALWAYS on the loo at night after a meal in a restaurant.

history:
In 1990 I got what I call gastric flu and did not recover for many years having post viral fatigue and continued IBS problems for many years. I have learned to be very careful and manage myself so that my energy and bowel have been relatively healthy for 15 years. I live a low stress life and practise meditation and tai chi. I do not drink coffee or milk or eat bread or cakes (bread makes me very ill quite quickly). I am moderate with alcohol and drink loads of water. However, things are not good at the moment.

This recent problem started with sore mucus membranes throughout whole body which felt very similar to the ‘gastric flu’ I had before. I felt sore all the way from my nostrils to my anus.

Then I had a year of nausea (present most of the time gets worse at other times)
Constipation is rare for me but noticeable for first time this year but once shifted I am back to loose stools again
I am currently experiencing:
· Explosive urgent diarrhoea after eating certain foods, light coloured very smelly
· Wheat/sugar/alcohol intolerance comes and goes (can be very intolerant, eg.20 mins!)
· Bloating, distension and gas
· Discomfort after meals, stomach fills with only tiny amounts of food
· A feeling of fear goes with the movement of food through certain parts of the intestine
· Can feel every inch of my gut as food passes through (like it is all sore)
· Poor appetite but no weight loss (big belly!)

Thank you for any helpful advice.
Cindy

Have a doctor check your for celiac, you don't need to lose weight to have it. Obese people who are gaining weight can even have it.

Here is my comment

You can have ALLERGY to one or more substances in wine.
If you have reaction on red AND white wine, you may be allergic to SULFITES or some other wine substance, which can be ALSO find in other foods.

If you have reaction ONLY on RED wine, you can have RED WINE HEADACHE (RWH):

winedefinitions.com/learningcenter/articles/redwineheadachemystery.htm
intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/333/8009/352585.html

Carefully read all 4 articles, they are all the same but all provide additional info.

You can ask here, whatever is on your mind.
