flat stool

I have had flat stool for about 6-8 weeks, I finally went to my doctor and he did exray and cat's scan. Told me it was air pockets and said to take pepcid and eat healthy. My erection is not where it should be. Can air pockets cause all this?

Oh sorry man.  This was for a different post.  Stupid NoScript changed the page on me.  But it is still good advice.

Hey man,

I am NO doctor, but I have had about 8 bowel obstructions including 3 which required hardcore surgery where they opened me up and physical "untied" my small intestine.  The surgery is like every other surgery EXCEPT for anything gastro, you most likely need a nasal-gastric tube.  This thing MUST have been invented during the Inquisition since they stuff it down your nose and into your stomach (a 90 degree bend at the back of your nose makes it feel like it is going into your brain).  As it passes you throat your gag reflex kicks in and you try to throw it up (impossible since it is in your nose) and your doctor jst says "try to relax and swallow" as you retch.

The reason for the nasal-gastric tube is that without it, your stomach would eat itself while you are recovering .

The reason I have been so "vivid" in my description is that if you DO have a partial obstruction, and you wait, that stabbing pain will become an ever-worsening nightmare if you become FULLY obstructed leading to possible death if you don't get to the hospital before your intestines rupture and you die from sepsis.

My first attack (and surgery) was my second day of college and I didn't know anything about what life could offer in the way of pain.  Get to a gastroenterologist and tell him your symptoms.  If you are lucky, you will just have to drink some barium, get a cat scan and have difficulty pooping for a few days.  Other outcomes include an NG (that's that nasal-gastric) tube which might relieve a partial obstruction BEFORE it becomes a FULL obstruction.  And obviously, surgery and then cancer are the worst outcomes.

Of the 8 attacks (and more pre-symptom discomfort events, that I knew COULD lead to an attack, than I can remember) 3 required surgery and the other 5 were relieved by NG tube alone and no invasive surgery.

so GET to your gastro doctor soon.  Not an emergency, but certainly something I would want to do in no more than 3 - 5 days.

Best Of Luck.
