fluid filled liver cysts and elevated enzymes in my liver

by lyn_ar_2001, Jun 08, 2001 12:00AM
I am not going to post a lengthy letter here, but I need help in knowing if there are other people like me out there with polycystic liver disease?. I had a liver function test done when I had my physical this year, and I had elevated ALT and AST enzymes, along with 20 fluid filled cysts.!!
The radiologists and drs . say they have not seen any thing like this. Usually there are cysts also on kidneys and spleen.
I was wondering if the cysts and the elevated enzymes could be related?
I have had numerous tests. I think bile ducts being clogged was ruled out, they tested me for a worm, all came back negative.
I have one large cyst , that is 41/2 inches in diameter. It bothers me. It seems as though it gets real tight during the day and I have a dull ache in my right side.Could it possibly go down and then come back up?
I have never heard of all this and I am frightened to death. I go back to the GI specialist Aug.lst and he is doing another livr function test and then he said I needed a liver biopsy. He scared me, because he says there is a chance of bleeding and surgery.
Any response would be appreciated.
