foul odor

a friend of mine, says that she gets this foul odor each time she eats a meal.  she says that she only smells it after she has eaten. she says at times is smell toxic and sometimes like a rotten odor. she has been to the gastrologist and he cant figure out what it is,he says she has a stomach irration but didnt give her any medication to treat the symptoms or just to see if it would help with the foul odor.. what questions can she ask her gastrologist?
