foul smelling gas

Ok so i'm 26 and have been suffering from FBO since the age of 10. I never realized I had an issue until I was tormented for it throughout my years of school.  Everyone else around me can smell it, but I can't. From what i understand it's like a bad gas odor coming from within me even though i know for a fact i didn't pass gas.  Needless to say it's simply humiliating and I wouldn't wish this upon anyone.  I'm in school for my master's now and I still hear the mean comments and naturally it affects my ability to do well in school b/c i'm so humiliated.  I would consider myself to have very good hygeine.  I shower 2-3 times a day, i use anti-bacterial soap, and use many body powders.  I use clnical strength deodorant-both spray and stick at the same time. I also use rubbing alcohol to rub under my arms to possibly kill any bad residue.

I recently lost my job and consequently don't have any insurance to go to any doctors.  Naturally my family thinks it's in my head but i know for a fact it's not based on the torment i've endured throughout my life.  I thought about pursuing a doctorate but the only thing that holds me back is i don't want to go thru another 5 years of being made fun of.

I take the chlorophyll pills and the probiotics.  I cut the soda out of my diet, and am in the process of eliminating sugary foods.  I was wondering since I do not have bowel movements everyday-could this be a cause of it?  My b/f goes religously and I go every couple of days and even that's a struggle-but that's how it's been all my life.  Would taking a colon cleanse help to eliminate this possible foul smelling gas/body odor?  Could it be an overproduction of yeast or perhaps foods my body simply cannot digest properly?  Is it recommended I go to an endocrinologist?...I've read so many things to try, but in light of my unemployment status, money is tight.  Can anyone recommend anything i can do to help eliminate this odor or at least modify it where i don't get made fun of as much? This has affected my life greatly...very negatively, and i'm simply at a loss as to what to do next ;*(

After two stomach surgeries I have had major problems in gas, and the sulfer smelling gas. It gets worst in time.  The only thing that help me was Candistroy a health store pills that destroy Candida.

I fully identify with you and have experienced the same symptoms in that it is not the flatluence itself but the inabilty to detect it or know its happening. It is NOT in your head and I hope you have found that there are many of us who share this awful problem. Ive posted a comment on another message board regarding this and have found for myself that isolated certain foods has lessened but not eliminated the problem. I just to say that at least you know you are not alone. It has nothing to do with your personal hygiene or who you are. It is a gastro illness that most doctors do not accept. I was so moved by reading your testimony. Until today, i thought I was the only person who suffered from this. I send you blessings and hope from England

Matt :-)

Hi, can you say is this a sulphur (rotten egg) smell or maybe barnyard smell? You are saying that there is a smell even if you don't pass gas but does gas also smells?
About sulphur gas:
http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/16645?personal_page_id=801

Sulphur gas may be from small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) - what can be confirmed by breath test with lactulose done by gastroenterologist. Smell iteself should go away with low-sulphur diet (avoiding red meat, eggs, certain sauces, etc).

To avoid constipation:
1. drink enough fluids
2. eat foods with enough fibers: bread, green vegetables, cereals, avoid sugary food
3. be physically active, walk or so

Eliminating sugars is really a good idea. Sugars "feed" intestinal bacteria that produce gas. Elimination sugars might also help you in constipation, so try low sugar diet:
http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/118248

In low-sugar diet you eat foods low in glucose, fructose, lactose and sucrose. This is the first thing you can try.
If this won't help, find a list of foods high in sulphur, and try low-sulphur diet.
