The side-effects can include difficulty swallowing if the wrap is tight, bloating and discomfort from gas buildup because a person is not able to burp or vomit, the possibility that 'heartburn' can return and PPIs may have to be used, and pain at the surgical site. A person's diet may have to be changed to softer, easier to eat foods immediately after the surgery to accomodate the 'tighter' pathway for passing foods through to the stomach.
